Grave No 1

In memory of Elizabeth the wife of William Stockwell of Clifton, and Mary their daughter.
who lived and died in the 18th century.
Since Adam who of earth was made
To death dust his race betrayed
Say ! who from fear of death can save
Are from the terror of the grave
Behold, the cross and shepherd there
Who died to save his flock from fear.
Also George Hirst of Hartshead. Husband of the above said Mary who departed this life the 16th day of October 1809 aged 65 years
The sore afflictions I have met
Numerous and great have been
But tis through Suffering we must get
The joys which are unseen.
Also William Hirst son of the above George Hirst who departed this life the 18th day of
October 1816 aged 45 years

In memory of Betty wife of John Micklethwaite of Thornhill. who departed this life August 4th 18##
Blessed are the dead, which die in the Lord.
Also Harriet the wife of John Micklethwaite junior who died April 20th 1868 aged 61.
Through her life her saviour was her guide
By faith sustained, she calmly died
Hope, her last moments cheering
Ushered her spirit to eternal day
Also Ann Micklethwaite daughter of the above John and Harriet Micklethwaite who departed this life May 30th 1866 aged 29 years.
Also the above named John Micklethwaite who died December 20th 1875 aged56 aged 80 years.

In memory of Samuel Binns of Hartshead Moor who died October 4th 1878 aged 50 years.
Selina his wife who died May 17th 1878 aged 50 years.
In memory of John Binns of Hartshead Moor who died December 27th 1847 aged 44 years.
Also Sarah his wife who died July 5th 1887 aged 83 years.

In memory of John Gledhill of Brighouse Lane Head died March 5th 1832 aged 83 years.
Also Jane wife of the above John Gledhill died October 8th 1813 aged 67 years
Likewise of Joshua son of the above parents who died at Roberttown November 1st 1793
aged 16 years and Mary their daughter who died July 22nd 1831 aged 53 years
In memory of Lydia Liley of Hightown relative of the above who died December 16th 1847 aged
68 years.
Also Emma Wife of Henry Liley who died July 20th 1891 aged 61 years.
Also the above named Henry Liley, who died November 12th 1901 aged 81 years.

Here lieth the body of William Gledhill Jnr of Hartshead Hall, who departed this life the 17th
day of November. In the 46th year of his age.
Also ye body of Mercy wife of the above said William Gledhill died May 3rd 1743. In the 73rd
year of his age.
Also Joshua Gledhill who died May 27th 1867. In the 82nd year of his age.
Also Lydia Gledhill who died October 17th 1869 aged 72 years.

In memoriam of James sharp of Hartshead who died November 9th 1864 aged 66 years.
In loving memory of Ann Sharp widow of the above who died November 9th 1888 aged 82 years.

Here lieth the body of Richard Popplewell Sen of Church house. who departed this life on the
3rd day of December 1729. In the 57th year of his age.
Also Abraham Elsworth the son of Michael Elsworth of Robertown who died May 18th 1828.
aged 28 years.

George Jackson of Hartshead. who died October 30th 1820 aged 30 years.
Also Matthew his son Who died February 22nd 1816 aged 2 years.

In memory of Charles Jackson. Late of Hartshead who died at Robertown. January 25th 1847. In his 43rd year.

Here lieth interred the body of John Cordingly of Hartshead. who departed this life on the 15th
day of December 1829. In the 84th year of his age.
Also here lieth the body of Joshua Wilby husband of the said Mary. who departed this life 14th September 1790. In the 56th year of his life.
Weep not for me, but wait the joyful day
When angels call us, from the bed of day
So shall we rise, triumphant in the air
A glorious crown, through Christ we shall wear.
Here lieth interred the body of Elizabeth the wife of William Furniss of Hartshead hall. Who
died February 19th 1754 aged 47.
Also Mary her daughter , the wife of Joshua Wilby, who departed this life February 10th in the
year of our Lord 1758 aged 23 years.
Also Mary daughter of the said Joshua Wilby who departed this life 3rd day of May 1793. In the 6th year of her life.

Grave No 11

Here lieth interred John Jackson late of #### who departed this life ## November ### in the ##
year of his age.
Also Alice wife of the above John Jackson who departed this life June 5th 1802 aged 78 years.
Also Emma Wife of Thomas Foxcroft of Manchester. Daughter of William and Elizabeth Jackson who departed this life November 11th 1867 aged 29 years.

Sacred to the memory of Frances, wife of George Gledhill of Hartshead. who departed this life
February 17th 1816 aged 33 years.
Afflictions sore, she long with patience bare
Physicians tried the healing art in vain
Till god in his mercy sent her a release
And freed her from her suffering and all pain
Thy death translated her to realms above
To sing the praises of redeeming love.
Also Eliza their daughter who died February 23rd 1816 aged 17 month.
Also the above George Gledhill, who died December 6th 1847 aged 75 years.

Here was interred the body of Elizabeth the daughter of John Furniss of Hartshead who
departed this life the 11th day of March. In the eleventh year of her age. A.D 1740.
Here lieth the body of John Furniss who departed this life the 7th of August in the year of our
Lord 1756. In the 54th year of his age.
Whose soul we hope as come to rest.
And be with Jesus, ever blest.
In Memory of William Furniss of Hartshead who departed this life on February 2nd 1805. In the 71st year of his age
Also John son of John Furniss of Hartshead who died October 24th 1803. In the 5th year of his age .
Also Elizabeth daughter of the above said John Furniss who died April 27th 1806. In the 2nd year of her age
Also the late John Furniss who died January 11th 1829. In the 71st year of his age.

Grave No 14

Here lieth interred the body of William Furniss of Hartshead. Carpenter who departed this life
on the 16th day of September. In the 51st year of his age A.D 1725.
Here also was interred the body of Patience, daughter of the above said William Furniss, of
Hartshead. who died 29th day of November. In the 24th year of her age in A.D 1738.
Also here lies the body of Martha, wife of the said John Furniss. who departed this life on the 6th day of October 1793. In the 86th year of his age.

Grave No 15

In loving memory of Ruben Oddy of Hartshead Moor born November 15th 1837 died September 30th 1892
Also Mary Elizabeth wife of the above died march 27th 1927 age 85 years.

Grave No 16

In Memory of Mary the beloved wife of John Furniss Stott. Of moor Cottage Hartshead who
died December 18th 1863 aged 47 years.
Meek was her temper
Virtuous was her mind
A faithful wife, and mother most kind
A greater gift to man was never given
No greater loss, except the loss of heaven
Also Erasmus Stott who died July 12th 1839 aged 11 years and 4 month
Also Saville Stott who died February 7th 1846 aged 11 years 3 month
Also Alfred Stott who died February 11th 1847 aged 15 years 9 month
Also John Furniss Stott the above named who died October 14th 1893 aged 78 years.

Here lieth the body of Richard, son of the first Charles Sheffield of Clifton who died June 16th 1700 aged 15 years.
Also the body of his father, Charles Sheffield who died June 17th 1711 aged 59 years.
From dust we came
And unto dust
Sooner or later
Turn we must.
Also the body of Catherine the wife of Thomas Sheffield of Blakelaw who died September 8th 1757 aged 70 years.
Here lieth the body of Elizabeth wife of the 1st Charles Sheffield of Clifton who died on January 12th 1714 aged 58 years.
Also the body of Hannah his daughter who died February 1st 1714 aged 30 years.
Also the body of Thomas Sheffield of blakelaw who departed this life July 6th 1766 aged 75 years.

Grave No 18

In Memory of Richard Adamson son of Joseph and Lydia Adamson of Blakelaw who died on June 14th 1864 aged 81 years.
Also Elizabeth wife of the above Richard Adamson who died September 3rd 1860 aged 79 years.
Also Lydia Mallinson and sister to the above Richard Adamson. Who died on November 28th 1854 aged 77 years.

Waiting the resurrection the body of Thomas Hall of Clifton who died on June 7th 1843 aged 69 years.
Also Hannah his wife and Mother to George Goldthorp Green of Gatefoot Nr Holmfirth who
died on the 7th day of March 1854 aged 70 years.
Blessed is the servant
Who is found waiting when the Lord cometh.
Also the above George Goldthorp Green who died on September 7th 1880 aged 71 years.
Upright in life
Peaceful in death.
George son of the above Hannah is owner of this stone.

In Memory of William Squire of Hartshead who died May 6th 1859 aged 58 years.
Also Margaret wife of the above who died February 18th 1865 aged 62 years.
Also Ann Squire daughter of the above who died on June 15th 1878  aged 50 years.
Also May wife of William Birchall and daughter of the above who died April 28th 1899 aged 73 years.

In Memory of Elizabeth daughter of Joseph and Hannah Balmforth of Hightown who died May 12th 1840. In the 14th year of her age.
Also Christiana Balmforth who died July 27th 1854 aged 26 years.
Also Mary Balmforth who died February 24th 1860 aged 34 years.
Also of the above named Hannah Balmforth who died December 5th 1882 aged 80 years.
Also ## son of the above named Joseph Balmforth who died February 12th 1802.

In Memory of James Crowther of Hartshead who died on February 11th 1881 aged 82 years
Also Hannah wife of the above James Crowther who died July 30th 1871 aged 71 years.
Also Ann Daughter of the above who died on May 5th 1841 aged 18 years.
Also Elizabeth their daughter who died on July 9th 1857 aged 23 years.

Here lieth interred the body of Nancy the daughter of Isaac Woodhead of Clifton who departed this life on July 27th 1805. In the 19th year of her age.
Death little warning to me gave
And soon did call me to my grave
Life is uncertain death is sure
Death gives the wound
But Christ the cure.
Also the above named Isaac Woodhead, who died November 17th 1825. In the 84th year of his age.
Also Sarah wife of Isaac Woodhead Jun who died October 16th 1843 aged 54 years.

Here lieth the body of Charles Sheffield of Clifton, who died May 30th 1759 aged  76 years
Also the remains of Thomas Sheffield son of the aforesaid Charles Sheffield who departed this life on the 28th day of February 1801. In the 56th year of his age.
Here lieth the body of Rachel daughter of Charles Sheffield of Clifton who died June 3rd 1754 aged 3 years.
Also Rachel his wife, who was daughter to Mr Elkanah Farrer of Ovenden who died June 15th 1754 aged 34 years.
She was, but room forbids to tell you what
Think what a wife should be and she was that.
Also the body of Mary daughter of the aforesaid Charles Sheffield who died April 15th 1766 aged 21 years.

In Memory of the late John Ashley of Robertown who died on the 6th of May 1840 aged 84 years
Also Sarah wife of the above who died on the 6th of February 1848 aged 92 years.

In Memory of Jonas. Late son of Isaac Woodhead of Clifton who departed this life on the 12th day of May 1777 in the 2nd year of his age.
Also here lieth the body of Lydia late daughter of the above mentioned Isaac Woodhead. who departed this life on the 6th of May 1792 in the 19th year of her aged
Also Sarah late daughter of the above Isaac Woodhead died on the 10th August 1810 aged 27 years.
Also Ruth daughter of Isaac Woodhead Junior who died on the 21st July 1831 aged 6 years.
Also Sarah daughter of the above Isaac Woodhead. Junior who died on the 13th day of June 1851 aged 23 years.

In Memory of Sam Blackburn. Stone Mason Hightown who died on the 18th of May 1864 aged 55 years.
Also Ann Blackburn wife of the above who died on the 1st May 1874 aged 63 years.
Also Caroline Blackburn their daughter who died on the 18th day of July 1857 aged 17 years
Also Henry Blackburn their son who died the 17th day of December 1858 aged 4 years.
Also Lydia Ann Blackburn daughter of the above who died on the 15th day of August 1868 aged 22 years.
Also three Children who died in their infancy.

In Memory of Hannah daughter of Thomas and Ann Gibson of Robertown, who died on the 21st day of September 1835 aged 2 years
Also George brother of the above who died October 13th 1842 aged 55 years.
